In this webinar, payment expert Andy Kimball (ex-Square), who is the Engineering Operations Lead at Cockroach Labs, will join Cockroach Labs Sales Engineer Jim Hatcher to discuss requirements for a payment system which include: 

• Zero downtime - any downtime can equate to fines, lost revenue, brand deterioration, and customer churn

• Scale - as a company grows, the transactional load placed on the database can quickly create a performance bottleneck

• Consistency and correctness - ACID transactional guarantees are mandatory for any payments system 

• Security - all interactions need to be available and integrated into the organizational authentication, authorization, auditing, and encryption systems

They will also talk about different approaches to architecting payment systems, and how you can build a system that meets all of the requirements. 

Jim will then demo a payment processor and gateway that runs on CockroachDB. Jim will walk through the details of the payments database, execute 100 transactions, discuss the database schema, and demo encryption features.
